Topic: PERA

Doug Anderson will provide an overview of PERA’s plans including an update on the current funding status, contribution requirements, and forecasts for future improvements. He will provide an update on the most pressing issues affecting each plan. He will also discuss PERA’s current and long-term initiatives, including legislative priorities heading in to the 2022 legislative session

Doug Anderson, Executive Director MN PERA

Doug Anderson has been Executive Director of the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) since 2015. PERA administers five pension plans with assets in excess of $40 billion. The plans cover over 400,000 current and former employees of counties, cities, and schools. Prior to working at PERA, Mr. Anderson had 30 years of experience working as a consulting actuary on both public sector and private plan pension issues. The first 10 years of his career were spent working at Deloitte. He then worked 20 years as the national practice leader of the retirement actuarial group for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. His experience included working with corporate and public pension plans across the nation and he specialized in helping plan sponsors identify and balance their benefit and cost objectives. Mr. Anderson is an Associate in the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
