Topic: PERA Update
Speaker: Doug Anderson, PERA Executive Director
Doug Anderson will provide an update on PERA’s financial condition as well as the
condition of other public sector plans in the State, reflecting the successful 2018 legislative initiative. PERA administers five pension plans with assets in excess of $30 billion. The plans cover over 400,000 current and former employees of counties, cities, and schools.
Mr. Anderson is the Executive Director of the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). Prior to joining PERA Doug worked 18 years as the national practice leader of the retirement actuarial group for A.J. Gallagher & Co. The first 10 years of his career were spent working at Deloitte. His experience included working with corporate and public pension plans across the nation, specializing in helping plan sponsors identify and balance their benefit and cost objectives. Doug is an Associate in the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is lifelong resident of Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota.
