Topic: Baby Boomer Retirement Wave & What it Means for Local MN Governments

Topic Summary: Minnesota’s aging workface and pending baby boomer retirements may greatly affect local government finances & budgets.  This wave of retirements may cause a workforce brain-drain and a lack of qualified and experienced workers.  Jay Kiedrowski is a Senior Fellow at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of MN and he will share his thoughts and discuss how this upcoming influx of retirees will challenge MN Governments on a variety of levels.

Since 2004, Jay Kiedrowski has been a Senior Fellow at the Public and Nonprofit Leadership Center (PNLC) at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota specializing in public/nonprofit finance, organizational development, and leadership. Kiedrowski retired from Wells Fargo & Co. in 2004 as an executive vice president and Manager of the Institutional Investments Group, after a 17 year career. Before joining Wells Fargo/Norwest, Kiedrowski was commissioner of finance and chief financial Officer for the State of Minnesota.  Prior to that, he was the Budget Director and Assistant City Coordinator for the city of Minneapolis.  He started his career working for the Minnesota Senate in urban and tax research.
