Speaker: Doug Anderson, Executive Director of PERA
Doug will provide a timely update on PERA’s financial condition and current initiatives, including legislative priorities heading in to the 2017 legislative session. Mr. Anderson is the Director of the Minnesota Public Employee Retirement Association of Minnesota (PERA), overseeing the five operational divisions within the organization. PERA serves over 300,000 current and former employees from over 2,000 local units of government and provides monthly benefits to over 100,000 retirees and recipients.
Doug Anderson was hired as the Executive Director of PERA in November 2015. He has 28 years of experience working as a consulting actuary on both public sector and private plan pension issues. Prior to joining PERA he spent 18 years as the national practice leader of the retirement actuarial group for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. The first 10 years of his career were spent working at Deloitte after graduating from the University of Minnesota. His experience included working with corporate, religious entity and public pension plans across the nation and he specialized in helping plan sponsors identify and balance their benefit and cost objectives. Mr. Anderson is an Enrolled Actuary, an Associate in the Society of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
